ANTIQUES COMMUNITY NEWS: Going, going . . . gone!

AN AUCTION of fine antiques and collectables will be held at the Museu do Trajo de São Brás de Alportel on September 27 to raise funds for the Amigos do Museu (Friends of the Museum).

This is the third year the auction will be held and the organisers are asking for people to submit genuine antiques and collectables with photos, provenance and a desired reserve price so details can be posted on their website prior to the auction.

From the sale of each lot 20 per cent of the money paid to the vendor and 10 per cent of the money paid by the buyer will be donated to the charitable fund that supports local cultural activity in the area.

The auction is being organised by Carmen Hoke, a long standing resident of the Algarve with plenty of experience and knowledge in this field.

This year, organisers are especially looking for art, silverware, jewellery, antique chairs and other antique furniture, porcelain as well as fine collectables.

If you would like guidance about an item you wish to put into the auction then expert approval and advice will be available at the museum on September 22 and 23 between 11am and 7pm.

Public viewing of the antiques and the final catalogue will be available on Friday September 26 between 3pm and 7pm.
